Adam Neate fabricates every element of his paintings himself in his studio.Late one night the bulb in his central light fitting blew, and desperate to continue working on the twisted perspex figure he was battling with, he fitted up a temporary light on the floor. Immediately he was struck by the extraordinary shadows that were cast on the wall from the refracted light through the bent perspex.

This happy accident resulted in this major sculptural installation in the cavernous basement of Elms Lesters Painting Rooms, which had to be viewed through a small brass framed opening in the wall.
