ADAM NEATE GREY PORTRAIT 2009 ELMS LESTERS

The introduction of perspex to Neate’s paintings during 2009 had a dramatic impact on his working practice.

‘GREY PORTRAIT’ featured in his ground-breaking solo show A NEW UNDERSTANDING. Within this stunning portrait, Neate introduced sweeping panels of curved perspex, with bent, textured metal and wire facial features, juxtaposed with bold expressionist brush strokes resulting in one of his earliest portraits that captured a moving thrashing head movement.
