ADAM NEATE ship of fools – elms lesters

1600 years ago Plato described a scenario with a mutinous crew, with no navigation skills and ignorant of their own direction. The concept provoked the 15th century satirist Sebastian Brant to write his infamous book ‘Ship of Fools’ which went on to inspire myriad artists, from Hieronymus Bosch in the 16th century to, more recently, Adam Neate.
