For this work Neate took the essence of his previous CONCERT PIANIST 2009, which was exhibited in ' A NEW UNDERSTANDING' which used a variety of mediums and found and sourced objects.

He set out to paint an expressionistic version using just various paint mediums on canvas which still retained the movement and vitality and vigour of the previous one.

The hands blur, the head stoops ; the energy is palpable.

This painting is now in a major corporate collection in Korea.

This important painting was a break through for Neate and was the first of his portraits to incorporate various mediums including metals and perpsex and was the forerunner of his later infamous 'FLOCK SERIES

' The shadows, highlights, brush work, and use of bold colours gives the startling impression of movement.

This painting is now in an important private collection in Singapore.

The composition of this complex painting brings together two footballers in a violent tackle for the ball.

The limbs are tangled, with highlights and shadows playing with the perspectives.
