Exhibition Info
With over thirty five portraits dating back to 2006 being loaned by collectors from all over the world, ‘HISTORY’, a non-selling historical overview, was a truly unique opportunity to see Neate’s fascinating development through from his expressionist works on cardboard to complex ‘dimensional paintings’ using Perspex, metal, fabrics, lenticulars and film.
Neate’s subject matter is in the strong British tradition of social realism, yet the materials he uses to make his brush strokes challenge tradition. In his iconic portraits, as well as in his portrayals of domestic life, the self-taught artist continues to push boundaries and challenge himself. Neate wrestles with new ideas in painting while working through the powerful emotions that are ever present in his overtly personal work.
This extraordinary and hugely important exhibition opened on Saturday 16th November at 10:00am with a signing event with Adam Neate until 1:00pm
