Exhibition Info
This exhibition brought together French born paste-up renegade WK Interact and free spirited Antipodean Anthony Lister in a major two man exhibition WK – LISTER.
“The WK-LISTER exhibition is presenting two of the most exciting urban artists today; WK-Interact and Anthony Lister.
The impressive show includes large scale WK-Interact multi media works, showing his trade mark paste-up figures on canvas and found objects, juxtaposed with a series of Lister’s iconic large scale diptychs, paintings, and installations.
Born in France, WK Interact has lived in Brooklyn, NYC for nearly 20 years, where
his dynamic and energetic imagery of figures pushing, stumbling and running through the streets has become iconic in the SoHo district and widely recognised internationally. The urban landscape creates a perfect backdrop for WK-Interact images and helps reinforce the theme of the human body in motion.
Australian Anthony Lister has a unique style, in which he defies the rules of composition, and creates beautiful, fragile, floating painterly figures, often depicting tawdry, dark and uncomfortable aspects of Human Condition. Whilst his subject matter is often disturbing, Lister’s work has a fragile quality with it’s faint lines, detritus and subtle pop-art statements.
His works, which frequently references cartoon imagery and comics, and his experiences in the world of graffiti and street art, are very often produced as pairs / diptychs / companion pieces, which are mirror images of each other.
A beautiful hard bound book was published to accompany this exhibition and copies are available both from the gallery and from our online store
