ADAM NEATE’s first solo exhibition ‘PAINTINGS, POTS and PRINTS’ was documented by Blank Pages Magazine in this short film.
ADAM NEATE’s first solo show at Elms Lesters Painting Rooms demonstrated his masterful use of different materials. including an impressive collection of new paintings on cardboard that pushed his own artistic boundaries.
‘PAINTINGS, POTS and PRINTS‘ showcased Neate’s two dimensional, painterly pieces that had taken on a new energy, and his three dimensional multi-media works which continue to grow increasingly complex and and layered.
Neate’s pots were the result of months of collaboration between the artist and internationally renowned British potter, DAN KELLY. The idea of introducing Neate to Kelly was perfect – both artists approach their work with vigour and tenacity, and both employ the techniques of cutting and shaping their chosen medium.
For this project, working in liaison with Adam, Dan threw a selection of his signature stoneware and porcelain vessels to which Neate introduced his subtle, sophisticated line. The resultant work was much more than the sum of the parts: each piece was a perfect marriage of form and decoration, with both artists’ influence and input being strong and vibrant.
