Early one morning, during a trip to Beijing, China, British painter ADAM NEATE joined street calligraphers in Beihai Park, to practise the art of DiShu : water calligraphy, creating ephemeral works of art which disappear as the water evaporates.

ADAM NEATE:
“I’m a big fan of DiShu it is a great catalyst for entering ‘flow state’
An hour can seem like five minutes and you can paint without needing to concentrate on thinking – you are in ‘the flow’
The ephemeral nature of the work gives you a greater appreciation of ‘the now’一个小时看起来就像五分钟,你可以画,而无需集中思想思考,你处在“流动状态”。
I was lucky to be able to travel to Beijing this year to experience DisHu in it’s homeland. Thank you all so much who were involved in making the film.
