Elms Lesters hosted the UK leg of the multi-country tour which began in Berlin earlier the previous month and ended in South Africa in June.
To herald the start of the ‘World Cup’ year PUMA partnered with acclaimed US artist KEHINDE WILEY and commissioned him to create four original paintings inspired by three of football’s most decorated players; Samuel Eto’o of Cameroon, John Mensah of Ghana and Emmanuel Eboué of Ivory Coast.
The exhibition “LEGENDS OF UNITY” featured the three individual portraits of the footballers plus the fourth “UNITY” portrait which shows all three players in a theatrically symbolic pose, emblematic of the united countries of Africa, along with a short documentary.
